Auchentoshan Produces 2,500 Litres of Hand Sanitiser to Donate to the Local Community

1 May 2020, (GLASGOW, SCOTLAND) – Beam Suntory’s Auchentoshan distillery has produced 2,500 litres of hand sanitiser to donate to local health services and community organisations to help combat the spread of COVID-19.

A small on-site team, following all government-recommended safety guidelines, has produced and hand-filled 4,600 bottles for donation. The sanitiser is now being distributed to more than 30 organisations including hospitals, care homes, volunteering groups, food banks, and other charitable organisations across Scotland.

Auchentoshan distillery was founded in Glasgow in 1823 and is known for being the only Single Malt in Scotland to triple-distill every drop of its liquid. It is part of Beam Suntory, a world leader in premium spirits.

Francis Conlon, Distillery Manager at Auchentoshan, remarked: “We’re so proud to be able to play a small part to help our local community in the fight against COVID-19 and support organisations doing such vital work. The team has been working hard, hand-filling bottles to ensure that healthcare workers, carers, and volunteers on the front lines have what they need.

I’d like to thank our entire team at Auchentoshan who made this possible, as well as our colleagues from our Springburn Head Office who assisted with sanitiser formulation, regulatory compliance, and the sourcing of additional materials and packaging.”

Gil Paterson, MSP for the Clydebank & Milngavie Constituency, also commented: “I want to say on behalf of my constituents how pleased and gratified we are by the generosity shown by Auchentoshan Distillery, producing this vital hand sanitiser that has been in such short supply. We owe them a big, big thanks for this act of kindness which I am sure will be long remembered by the public.”
