In this edition of People of Suntory Global Spirits, we spotlight a trailblazer. Since joining the company in 2015 as a Joint Ventures Analyst, Javier has never stopped moving. He’s navigated roles across EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), taken on high-impact projects and transformation initiatives and even stepped in as Finance Director for Spain and Global Travel Retail (GTR).

Today, Javier is driving impact as Finance Director for Iberia and MEA. What’s powered his momentum? A passion for growth and a deep belief in the strength of human connection.

“Throughout my career, I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to multiple countries across EMEA and Singapore, working with colleagues from diverse nationalities, cultures and religions, which has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. Building real relationships makes all the difference.”

Whether implementing Systems Applications and Products (SAP) in Spain, or launching new finance tools in GTR, Javier brings energy, empathy and excellence to everything he does. And his advice for anyone looking to grow?

“Embrace continuous learning and adaptability. Each career journey is unique, so take ownership of your development by seeking out challenges that expand your skills and embrace feedback as a tool for improvement. Lastly, resilience is key. Your journey will have challenges and may take longer than expected sometimes, but maintaining a positive attitude will help you overcome obstacles that come your way.”

For Javier, meaningful connections—both at home and at work—are also a constant source of inspiration. Strong relationships have been the heartbeat of his journey, from recharging on quality getaways with his wife and child (soon to be joined by a new sibling!) to staying motivated through competition with friends pursuing careers at global companies.
